hiazzz... our class blog is dying again. shall attempt to revive it becos i am so bored, mostly staying at home ya. so i shall post a lame story which i kinda dug out of my e-mail archive.

Chapter One One day, noodle quarrel with meat bao(bun). They had a fight but bao was too clumsy and lost badly. He was very angry and he told noodle to stay behind if he has the guts and he'll get his pals to assist him. Meat bao went to find bread, man tou, jian bao etc to get them to reinforce him. Along the way, they saw maggi mee. They ah bish ah bish ah bish and beat maggi mee up and maggi mee beri puzzled why he kena beaten up. He said, "Why u all beat me? What have I done to deserve this?" The meat bao said, "Noodle! Dun think u perm your hair then cannot recognise u!"

Chapter Two Maggi mee, who was beaten up for no reason, was very angry. So he went to find bee hoon, udon, fried noodles etc to seek revenge. But on the way, they met small bao. Maggi mee looked at small bao for a while then told his brothers, “Bra-der! Whack him!" Maggi mee whack small bao harder & harder. After the noodles family has left, they asked Maggi Mee why he hated small bao so much and beat him up so badly. Maggi mee said. "At first wanna teach him a small lesson only, but then see him act cute, made me so angry."

Chapter Three The more small bao thought of it, the more buay song he was. So, he found the bao family to whack Maggi mee. Then they found ying shi juan (noodles covered with bun). They brought him back as hostage and were about to put him on the stove to force him to talk when the bao head said, "That's not noodles! That's our undercover!"

Chapter Four The family of bao and noodles are now enemies and they have gang fights whenever they see each other. One day, the noodles family was having a walk when they saw char siew bao alone. Seeing the good chance, all of them attacked him. The noodles family shouted, "Beat him hard hard! Don't give chance just because he's vomiting blood!"

Chapter Five Poor char siew bao, with his injuries, went to the bao headquarters to look for help. All the bao family was activated and together with red bean bao, green bean bun etc. they went to seek revenge. All the passerbys siam them as they look like they will kill. They saw french fries jalan jalan along, shopping. The bao family attacked him. The bao head shouted, "Noodle people still wear gold go shopping! Whack him!!!"

Chapter Six Finally, the bao family manage to kidnap noodle, the one who started up the whole show, and brought him back to the bao headquarter. All the baos took turns to whack him. At the end, the chief of baos - dua bah bao took a final roll over noodle before they dump him. When the poor noodle finally went home, none of the family member could recognise him bcoz he is totally disfigured - flatten. In order not to let the family bear the bad name, he appears as a new member named Mee pok.

Have to miss the Science department retreat for both days. Really would want to join them but no choice leh...have to print and paste labels and seating plans for the upcoming A level exam. What a way to spend my birthday. Anyway, thanks to the 21 of you who sms me all at the same time. Haha..first time i receive so many messages at one go. Was in the midst of pasting the seating plans at the green board as the phone keeps vibrating non-stop...haha...so funny. Special thanks to Florence for remembering. From the no. of smses that I received in the last 2 days, it is not hard to imagine the physical and emotional strain on you. Some of you may be fretting over whether you can ‘safely’ be promoted.
It seems so miserable to be studying alone in the late nights while others are already in their dreamlands. We may not be able to turn back time to days where life is much happier and simpler. Neither can we travel to the future to assure ourselves that every thing will turn out fine in the end. But we can make use of time to prepare ourselves for the battle ahead. And only with faith, determination and some sacrifices will we be able to forge on and create a miracle. We have 21 days to achieve. You have the ability to make a difference to your own future. Fight on!

Whoever that left the S-cube seminar booklets in the comp lab, you better don't let me find out who you are. Knowing me for 8 mths, you shd know that i simply can't stand people who are highly irresponsible. You simply leave the booklets there, thinking there will be cleaners to clear them for you. Hey...whatever shao ye's, xiao jie's life you enjoy at home is not applicable in the public. Go face the wall and reflect about your irresponsible act. If I ever come across anyone of you doing that again( as there will be plently of opportunties), I promise i will write the best recommendation that i have ever written for you. This is about character and i don't see how and why i shd recommend such self-centred people to be the future leaders or potential scholars.

*spoils my day...luckily the majority of you are mature, sensible.

Piggy, Ewee and Moomoo (who are sitting on my table) now have a new company, the Cambridge Bear (no foto yet).....yeah....thanks to Swat, liling and Maria. Oh dear, people are reading the blog and Ralph questioned why i cried on that day. Hey people, I didn't cry in front of anybody, in case you got the wrong idea. I just got a bit emotional, which i usually don't. Really...i rarely shed tears when watching a sad movie or when bullied by Junhow.

I didn't post that to earn your sympathy...my intention is more to bring an awareness to everyone of you...hoping that you'll learn to appreciate the uncles and aunties more, learn to think more for others..more importantly learn to take initiative to offer a helping hand to others, be it the uncles, aunties, teachers (not just those who teach you), peers or even strangers.

ps: Gavan and Ralph.....stop spreading the words around ya.

Scholarship Day is finally over. Colleagues say that i looked stressed this entire week. I am stressed all the times though, even my students say so. I just look serious most of the time but I do admit that i am very busy juggling between spa and this event and other stuff at the same time. All these did not put me off that much....really.

Event seemed a success at the Hall where the exhibition booths were but i was really upset to be cheated by the figures that we collated based on the response of students and parents who indicated interest in attending the event. (Worried about the limited seating capacity in the LTs, i actually requested extra chairs to be placed in the LTs.) I felt so bad that the uncles from the Estate department had to carry all the chairs and tables to the various lecture theatres for me as a result. They are in the fifties or sixties and asking them to carry heavy furniture for nothing is really so mean. Every thought of this really makes me feel so bad that tears just keep flowing down my cheeks. The least i could do was to stay behind to help them move the chairs back to the classrooms and bring cartoons of water back to the storeroom. But that's really so little that i had done. It's really sad to see that most of the kids couldn't be bothered to help the uncles. To them, they feel that it's not part of their duty to do the labour work. Some even couldn't be bothered to help to stack the chairs when they saw me doing it. What sort of values are we teaching the kids nowadays? They only volunteer when cip hours are awarded; they only help when requested; some don't even bother; they only do things for their interest on the whole.

Take the figures collated as a good example, how many of those people honour their commitment in the end? How many would realise that a selfish act that they make will cause others to sweat abd slog? Take the rubbish bin placed on the tables in the laboratory for example, how many would take the initiative to empty their bin before they leave the lab? Do they know that by walking a few steps to empty the bin, the lab officers could probably end their day slightly earlier? For every glassware that they broke, do they ever wonder if the broken glass would cut the cleaners who are clearing the bin? How many of us will really put ourselves in other people's shoes when we make certain decision? I'm guilty of not considering the workload of the uncles when all i care was to 'please' the visitors who might be coming; when all i consider was to lighten the workload of the teachers on duty.

When i came back to the staff room at about 4.30pm on Sat though event ended by 3pm, i was touched to see a basket of flowers sent by my colleague. She has been so encouraging all this while. That just caused more tears. The whole thing is over, on the whole, i just feel sad. Am i too hard on myself, like what my colleagues always say? I may sound upset now, i am really alright, just some thoughts. Time will heal everything as usual...life will just move on.

anyway. there was this cat at the mini canteen today which was very cute. it kind of brought out a softer side of balpreet which made her goo-goo and gaa-gaa over the kitten, as well as shin jung's motherly instincts as she played with it, hugging it and stuff.

they say pictures say more than words, so i'll just post up some pictures of that cat. hahahaha. hope it didnt get too traumatised by all the attention it was getting, though it seemed to enjoy itself with so many people clamouring to play with it and what not.

Apology to the H2 Econs students, in particular Kaye and Jeremy who tried to call me on Friday. Was pretty busy the whole day and I left the phone in the office. Anyway i called the teacher coordinator to find out. when I received Kaye's sms at around 11 plus. She told me that she arranged the talk based on the former timetable that you guys were using before June, hence she did not realise that some of you have H2 lesson. For me, I thought that you are given the official excuse to miss the lesson since the school has already arranged for the dialogue session.

Another boring contribution from me. More an annoucement but i know most of you don't need such reminders.

1. H3 lessons have started. Please be reminded that all H3 lessons are compulsory and that these lessons therefore take precedence over CCA practices/activities (in any case, CCAs should be winding down in terms 3 and 4). Attendance rules apply for H3 classes as for any other class - MCs, blue slip procedures etc remain the same.

2. Students who need to be excused from H3 lessons for competitions should go thru the usual channels to request permission, i.e. Mike J for CCA-related activities and myself for academic activities/events.Please do alert either Mr Tai or or Mrs Reavley in the event that H3 lessons clash with other lessons, e.g. H2 German etc.

HEY!! My first entry! Haha, and a bid to revive this blog too. :)
Actually, nothing much to blog about leh, scared I bore u guys to death. So just something random that happened to me today, here goes...
Today, I was supposed to take a bus to Buona Vista MRT to take shuttle bus to Biopolis for IMCB attachment. About 1 hour bus ride, I blurblur got off at the busstop at a MRT station because everyone was getting down, so I thought this must be it. When I got down, I looked around and thought this place look kinda familiar leh, like I got come before, but I don't remember going Buona Vista MRT before. Oh well, I thought what the heck, afterall my memory is always so lousy, maybe I did go Buona Vista before. So I crossed the bridge to find the shuttle bus pick up point. After walking around, I couldn't find it so I asked this random person at the busstop where the pick up point was. Then she don't know so I ask where is the MOE building, then she was like,'Oh, isn't that at Buona Vista?' I was like 'What? You mean I not at Buona Vista? Then where in the world am I?' Ok, I didn't say that out loud lar, if not that'll be super embarrassing and I bet she would have laughed at my face. So I immediately mumbled something then ran off to look at the sign in the MRT station. OMG lar. It said DOVER. I was like WTF.... Why am I so blur? What did I just do? By then I was like quite late liao, so I ran to take MRT to Buona Vista. At BV, while walking across the bridge again, I saw the shuttle bus! So I thought, nevermind, wait for the next one. By the time I reached the bottom on the other side, the bus was still there lar. I was like what the... so run again. And as luck would have it, the bus pulled off just when I was a few metres away from it. Since I was late, I seriously considered waving madly at the driver. But of course, to preserve my reputation, I didn't duh. I was so scared I would be the latest, then I would have to explain myself and that would be so maluating because the person would either laugh at my reason or think I made it up. Like that time in sec3 when I happily, and unknowingly took the MRT in the wrong direction and turned up late to meet my teacher. So when I told her the reason, she looked like she didn't believe. Anyway, turns out I wasn't late! Whew. Hopefully, tomorrow I wouldn't have to run after shuttle buses because I ran after it again to go back after lunch at Holland V. -_-
Anyway, on a side note, I was thinking if you guys want to catch Pirates together as a chill out thing after getting back CTs, because whether we did well or not doesn't matter! we still gotta work for promos, and that's what counts! tata~

Hi folks,
I know that it has been a traumatizing week, especially for those who have put in much effort in preparing for the common test, yet not receiving the desired outcome. Hope that time has healed your wounds by now.

For those who have really devoted much time for this exam, I really applaud you for your effort and attitude. Accept that setbacks are part and parcel of life. Looking at the flip side of the coin, they are opportunities and challenges that help to mould you. What doesn’t kill you makes you a stronger person. Bear in mind that perseverance and failure do not coexist. From learning to walk to riding a bicycle, our childhood teaches us that we are likely to stumble at first. It is part of the learning process. Ultimately, the people who persevere through the stumbling process will achieve success. What’s important is that you are willing to put in consistent effort and time to master the skill. So don’t lament over what is already done anymore, instead should look ahead, make good use of the present and start planning for the future.

Some of you may have felt that it is meaningless to plan your revision schedule now since you may not be able to follow it strictly. The rationale of drafting a revision schedule or timeline perhaps serve more like a reminder to you. Human beings are lazy by nature. Without these constant reminders, we tend to procrastinate and leave things till tomorrow…till few days before the next exam, only then we realize there is simply so much to study. How many of you attribute your poor performance to inadequate preparation? How many of you are guilty of not maximizing your learning during lecture and tutorials? How many of you regretted not clarify your doubts and doing more practice questions after each topic? I was looking at some of your revision plan, many of you are starting with the term 1 and 2 topics. I would advise you to revise for the new topics learnt this term concurrently as well. To me, practising TYS questions after each topic is part of revision as well. Suggested study plan:
Current topic: Read notes before lecture, read notes after each lecture. Read notes before doing tutorial, summarize, do mind map etc. Do tutorial without referring to notes first. Pay attention during tutorial. Attempt assignment (not copy from friends) or do TYS questions.
Former topics: Devote time during the weekends to practice. Do the Chem Focus tutorial which will be given to you soon. Do TYS questions.

It seems there is so much to be done in such a limited amount of time each day. But it’s all about proper time management, maximizing your learning during lessons, consistency in your work and knowing your priorities. Remember that no pain, no gain but the fruits of your own hard labour always taste better. Hopefully you get to enjoy the fruits in near future.

Hi everyone, I am quite pleased with the attendance of the revision test 1. Majority of you who are supposed to sit for the paper have made a good effort to attend the session. Whoever was taking the attendance even wrote down specifically why your peers were absent. Was really impressed by that. Wonder was that Shu Yi? Also, Zi Ying and Weiduo who missed the session for valid reason also took initiative to attempt the questions. That's the kind of attitude which motivate us. At least we know that not all efforts made in typing the questions and arranging for test are wasted. *Thumbs-up* for those who came.

Those who missed Revision Test 1, the testpapers are in your pigeonhole. We have printed for everyone, even for those who are exempted from the test.

A gentle reminder the Revision test 2 is held on coming monday, 19th June, LT2, 9-11 am. I VERY STRONGLY recommend those weak in Organic Chem to attend Revision test 2. Those of you who came for Revision test 1, your grade doesn't look satisfactory so do come for revision test 2. Zi Ying, you are excused from revision test 2.

One more week left to catch up with your work. Happy mugging. Do send email to me should you have any questions to clarify. I'll be busy attending courses next week so might not find time to come back school for consultations. In school at the moment though.

We're doing dinner and a movie cos a bbq/picnic's too much work, we've alr done the house crashing, I am not willing to inform anyone's parents of their demise in the event of a death during blading/iceskating and u people need to spend quality time mugging. Hi everyone. It's finally the end of term and the long-awaiting holidays shall begin soon. Many of us are burnt out by now especially this term, so do make good use of this period to rejuvenate, ya.

But wait...that doesn't mean you can slack throughout the hols. By now, you should have a feel of how different the academics demand is for JC as compared to Secondary. For those of you who come through IP, my greatest concern for you is that you are not used to preparing so many topics for an exam. For those who sat for O level, please be convinced that the breadth and depth covered in A level syllabus is definitetly much beyond what you need to do for O level. That's why in JC we always emphasise on the need to be a consistent worker, being prepared for tutorials, doing assignments/extra practice and more importantly clarifying your doubts as soon as possible. If you prepare to do last minute work and pray for miracles to happen, let me assure you that the magic will not work this time round. Consistent is the key to decent, if not good, grades. If you want your straight 'As', you have to work for it. Have sense of urgency please, time is running out..you have so much to learn so don't procrastinate any further.

Please do not hesitate to see me during the holidays for consultation. Please take the initiative to sms me or email me. We can work out the schedule, though preferably it is in the first 2 weeks. Note that i am on course on 31 May till 2nd June and 22nd June till 24th June. Do come here prepared, meaning with questions/doubts to clarify.

For those of you who know your stuff well, do spend the holidays doing more practice questions. You only know what you don't know when you attempt questions that you can't solve. Do try the questions under time constraints. give yourself 1 to 1.5 min per mark. You need to learn how to organise your thoughts and present your answers clearly. For explanation questions, watch out for key details/words that teachers look out for in the answers. Like arrows, slow, fast step, name of reaction when describing mechanism. Key words, when need to include diagrams in the explanation. These are important (yet insignificant to some of you) details that might cause a difference between an A or B, E or U grade.

Lastly, really want to say that it has so far been a pleasure marking your class's work and teaching the class. Keep up the good attitude. Do study hard for the common test. All the best!

Class CIP anyone??

Heya ppl!!

I've a lobang for a CIP on the 18th November...

Basically, AWWA (Asian Women's Welfare Association: http://www.awwa.org.sg/) is holding a big bash/ fun fair for its anniversary this year. Would be held at one of the centres where it dispenses their services.

Merrill Lynch, an investment firm has adopted the charity and is contributing by taking up some of the stalls on that day. They would like to 'pass the buck' to youth, aka us, such that we organize the stall (be it food or fun).

SO... we'd have to plan:

The activities that we want to have
Prizes awarded for any games
Work allocation, etc

Yupp... and we can take up more than one stall if required... So if our class is really really interested, we can spread outselves evenly...

Lemme noe ur tots??

Hi everyone,
It has been a busy term with many adminstrative work to carry out hence have neglected the class for quite some time. So sorry about that.

Really wonder is everyone coping well with cca and studies so far? As i move around to check your tutorial, I do notice that most of you always come prepared for lesson. That's wonderful. I must also specially mention people like Philana, Kang Rui, Suat Ying, Shin Jung, Zi Ying, Jeremey, Shu Yi, Li Ling and Jayanthi who are generally 'with me' most of the time during lesson. In terms of assignments, I am glad that majority of you make good effort to do your assignments and of course we have people like Suat, Amelia, Li Ling, Sei Kiat, who would produce work of excellent quality. On the whole I am pleased with the academics performance and attidue displayed by most of you. Keep it up.

Time flies right. We been in this class for almost half a year...there are times when i joke with you, there are times when i scold you. Some of you might feel hurt or even feel that i might be picking on you. Some probably thinks that i am not understanding enough. Whatever it is, please do take my remarks too personally. I am the kind who will speak my mind. But do feedback to me if you feel hurt by my remarks. Also, please do not hestitate to speak to me if you encounter any problems. In other words, do share with me your woes and joy. i would really love to know you more. Do write in your journals (even when i don't specifically give a topic) or this blog and share with me your daily experiences. remember..this is a channel for me to know you better so that i can know what to write for you in 1.5 years time =)

ok and i was looking through my file when i saw the US and Canadian University Briefing which none of you were interested. but just in case a little corner of you wanted to go for it, here are some details you might want to know.

this was what was. er. written on the paper given to me. (:

all students with the tiniest interest in applying to the US and Canada this coming year should attend this briefing. it will not be repeated later this year.

Date: Monday 15 May
Time: 5-7 pm
Venue: LT1

To be covered:
how to choose universities, the US/Canadian application process, special points that RJC students should be aware of.

Students are advised to bring paper and pen to take notes, and to arrive punctually if they don't want to sit on the floor.

JC1s are discouraged from applying this year, as they will be in a much stronger position next year (especially those who have not taken the O levels), but they are welcome to attend to get a preview of the process and expectations.

parents will have another seminar tailored for them.

my sunday morning adventure was so interesting i have no choice but to blog about it lol

ok odac had kayaking expedition on sunday, and we were supposed to reach sch by 7 cos thats when the bus leaves. well i was kinda early cos morning no traffic so the bus arrived at ri quickly. too quickly. cos i was amusing myself with my new phone and the games in it, i was caught off guard when the bus reached the bus stop. so i quickly pressed the bell and grabbed my stuff and got off. note: i had my bag slinged around me (no problem),handphone, nano, shoebag and wallet to carry in my hands. as one might perceive, that is a little too much to handle. esp when u have to alight in like 10 sec. so anw i got off the bus. then i had this DAMN uneasy feeling. like i was missing smth! then i plopped my bag down on the floor and began searching for my wallet! (cos my hp and shoebag were still in my hands and well music was still playing in my ears) and alas! i cant find it!

then i attempted the most hero thing to do. chase after the bus

note again: by now the bus was already like about 50m ahead at the traffic junction. those who have chased buses before would know that u need a REALLY big head start to catch t3h bus. but anw i couldnt care less. all that was in my head was that no way this cant be happening again (cos i jux lost my prev wallet about a month ago) so i CHIONGED like mad after the bus to the next bus stop. but well of course it wasnt even there when i reached it. by now i was really freaking out. tons of things going through my head. how now should i go back to school and brood about it the entire day? or should i go to amk bus interchange to find my wallet. how am i supposed to go to amk anw? run there? after all its only one train stop away (lol only) etc then i calmed down and thought rationally. i called my friend to tell her i wun be going for kayaking alr cos i etc etc. then i called my bro at home to ask him to ring up the interchange to ask for my wallet. then my friend messaged me: "hey relax la. rmb that God is here for you." wah ok i was so flustered that i really forgot that He was there. so i kept faith and said "Lord if you're here give my back my wallet"

then my bro called to tell me that they found it. i was like WHAT THE. it has been a long long time since i felt God's presense. I really got back my wallet!!

then my dad called to tell me to cab down to YCK bus interchange (yes i got the interchange wrong lol). but i was like but i dun have any money. then i realised that all my cash was in my bag! haha! so yes i cabbed down and got my wallet. then my dad picked me up from there and took me all the way back to changi. and i still made if for kayaking!! so everything ended happily-ever-after-ish.

ok sry for this very long post that is not related to the class whatsoever. and it doesnt sound very interesting now zz.

- other PW work. like the reflection sheet 2. and the group charter thing which you have to make aesthetically pleasing to be pinned up at the back of the PW classroom. lol.

oh yes. i wanted to blog about something. so here it is

the perfect recipe to getting amused in sch
1. before a test if you want to do last minute cramming, stay away from yanghan. else you'll never get anything done besides the working of your abs from all the laughter.
2. before you plonk your head on the table to catch your twenty winks, take note whether anyone else is doing it. else you'll be caught in a scandal just due to circumstance, by our wonderful yanghan again.
3. we have our own twin towers in 3Q - shin jung and balpreet! together those two are double the fun and amusement.
4. as you can see. best way to work your abs in the canteen is to sit with balpreet, shin jung, yanghan, and a few other people. guaranteed to laugh till your stomach hurts.

oh wait. results might vary with each individual.

hmmm okay. had pictures to post but they are er. kind of gone. =/ yup. people go blog too! yay.

here are the announcements for the weekend. (lol).

ok!

for those who forgot or didnt hear me during civics on thurs or something. below is the info on council elections.

our class is scheduled from 0900 to 0930 (first break after econs) at computer lab 2 (4th level, library block). please rush down to the computer lab right after your econs so that you can be in time for the voting.

the 25th students' council regrets any inconvenience caused to our (lunch) break.

they want us to convey the following information to you:
1. voting is complusory for all students
2. 7 complusory votes for campaigners from your house. other 8 votes must be ultilised, and you can vote for any campaigner (from all houses). ie the number of campaigners you can vote from your house is [7,15] hahaha.
3. you should vote during this allocated slot from 9 to 9.30. if you cant vote then come and look for me i'll tell you what to do.
4. voting procedure (impt!)
a. morning of 17 apr, all ct reps will be issued with hard copies for voting form for classes immediately after assembly.
b. we will pass you the voting forms asap
c. fill up the form, indicating clearly your choice of candidates beofre reporting to the computer lab for electronic voting. this means we will be giving you the slips during econs and you guys will have to fill it up then. gives you an excuse to multitask hehheh.
d. please note that your choice of candidates if confidential
e. bring along your EZ link card for verification. each student is only allowed to vote once.
f. after reporting to the computer lab, each student will be issued with a password. using the hard copy of the completed voting form, transfer the votes into the electronic voting system.
g. before leaving the computer lab, hand in the hard copy of the voting form to the councillor on duty.
5. do vote wisely.
